In this video, breast cancer survivor Allison W. Gryphon shares with Breast Cancer Answers her best tips for battling night sweats and hot flashes that she experience as a result of chemotherapy treatment for breast cancer. Changes in her diet as well as having some herbal snacks handy helped her get through the tough times.
Allison W. Gryphon: During chemo, I had a battle with hot flashes and night sweats. I have three tricks that really helped me get through it.
The first was adding olive oil to my diet. I did a lot of research on olive oil and found it does help with the effects of menopause. I include it in a lot of my meals and I found that it really did make a difference. The second thing was organic ginger juice, they can stop the hot flash, any flash. One of my doctors suggested them to me and they really worked for me.
The third thing is kambucha, which is a fermented tea that you can find at a lot of health food stores and it really helped just keep my body feeling even and my body temperature at a good spot. It did help, I would drink one during a hot flash and it would help bring me to a better place faster and it taste good.
